Below are tips and helpful information to make your trip to the festival a little bit easier.

ATM Locations
  • Inside Madigan’s Waterfront Restaurant at 201 Mill Street

  • At the VFW at 204 Mill Street

 
Restrooms
  • Public Restrooms are located at at the entrance to River Mill Park, as well as Mill St Draft Garden at 200 Mill Street.

 

First Aid
  • A First Aid Kit will be available at the Information Booth, near the Gingerbread Tent at the entrance to River Mill Park.

Pets
  • Well behaved, leashed pets are welcomed at the festival. Waste disposal bags are available in River Mill Park. Please note, individual brick-and-mortar businesses have their own policies about pet entry. Pets are not permitted on the shuttle buses.

parking & Shuttles

The Town of Occoquan is located less than a mile from I-95, just 20 miles south of Washington, DC. Most streets and free parking in town is OPEN during this event, however it is limited.

FREE shuttle service via the Occoquan Express is available:

  • Saturday, Dec. 2 from 10am-8pm

  • Sunday, Dec. 3 from 10am-5pm

Accessibility

Shuttle Service
  • Shuttle buses are not, in general, wheelchair accessible.

  • Steps are required to get in and out of shuttle buses.

  • Visitors may opt to be dropped off at the market shuttle stop and have a driver park elsewhere (in town or in the shuttle parking lot).

 

Parking
  • Accessible parking is available throughout town. Please see THIS MAP for accessible spot locations. Please note that the accessible spot next to the Mill House Museum will not be able to be accessed, due to the road closure of Mill Street from Ellicott St to River Mill Park.

  • Accessible Van parking is located under the Rt 123 Bridge in the large parking lot.

  • Accessible parking is also available on Commerce Street. Patrons wishing to use this space should travel in on Washington Street, where they will be directed to spaces by police. Please note that there is a hill from Commerce Street to Mill Street.

General Accessibility
  • The main streets of the market are mostly flat, with slight inclines.

  • River Mill Park is accessible by two ramped areas. Some booths within River Mill Park are located within a generally flat, grassy area.

  • Businesses in town are in a mix of historic and modern buildings, making full accessibility varied from business to business. We recommend contacting a business directly to inquire about wheelchair accessibility or if steps are required to access the business.

  • Benches and seating is located throughout the market area.

Who hosts this event?

The Town of Occoquan hosts and manages all Occoquan Festivals. You can learn more about the Town of Occoquan at occoquanva.gov.

Does Occoquan host other types of events?

Yes! We host multiple events throughout the year including a free Summer Concert Series in the park, monthly Trivia Night, Peep Week, Discover Occoquan, Spirits & Spirits, and HolidayFest. Learn more at visitoccoquanva.com.

Is there public WiFi at this event?

Unfortunately, no. The town does not have municipal wireless internet available at this time.

Can I walk around the festival with an adult beverage I have purchased in town?

Yes! On Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 between 12pm-8pm, he Town of Occoquan has a special license that allows visitors ages 21+ to purchase alcoholic beverages from a restaurant or festival food vendor and carry it within the limits of the festival. Outside alcohol is not permitted.

Can I bring my pet?

Well behaved, leashed pets are welcomed at the festival. Waste disposal bags are available in River Mill Park. Please note, individual brick-and-mortar businesses have their own policies about pet entry. Pets are not permitted on the shuttle buses.

Is parking available in any of the town lots?
Yes! The majority of  our visitor parking is available within the town lots. Free shuttle service is also available both days.

Are strollers permitted on shuttles?

Yes! We recommend folding them up before the bus arrives to conserve space.

 

Are pets allowed on shuttles?

Service animals are permitted on our shuttles. Therapy dogs and other animals are not permitted on shuttles, however well behaved leashed pets ARE welcomed at the market!
